Birth is a sacred
rite of passage
Birth is a natural, biological process that is not inherently dangerous or required to take place under medical supervision. Women have been birthing for hundreds of thousands of years, and only began to birth in the hospital in the early 1900’s. Prior to that, most women gave birth to healthy babies in the comfort of their home, with no interventions and surrounded by the elder wise women of their community.
The rise of hospital births began when women were told they could be “saved” from the pain of childbirth by using ‘Twilight Sleep’. Birthing in this way disrupted the natural physiology of birth which led to the need for a cascade of interventions for both mother and baby. This changed the trajectory of birth. While there are certainly times when medical intervention is needed during birth, it is very, very rare that it is a requirement.
It is one of our missions to educate and inspire women to reclaim their power and trust in their innate ability to birth. Women were beautifully designed to create, grow and birth new life. “Nature needs no help, just no interference.” As your birth doula, I am here to support, advocate and hold space, honoring your path into motherhood. The way we birth is the way we live, and the way we live is how we can change the world.

Postpartum is sacred, raw, & transformational
It is imperative that we come back to tending to the mother. Birth is one of the most transformative, mind-altering, heart-opening, expansive shifts that a woman will experience. The way a woman experiences the fourth trimester (postpartum) sets the tone for her experience of motherhood. When the mother is taken care of, the baby is taken care of.
Postpartum is a time for integration, rejuvenation, and co-regulation. It should be filled with nourishing meals, herbal remedies, and sacred rituals. Ideally, the postpartum mother should feel fully supported and relieved of all tasks, so that she can focus on reconnecting with herself and caring for the new life she just brought into this earthly plane.
A postpartum doula can be a wonderful added support during this time not only to tend to the postpartum woman, but also to take on some roles so she can have the space to heal and connect with her baby. This support could look like at home chiropractic care, craniosacral work, rituals, meal preparation, laundry, light housekeeping, and more. As your postpartum doula, I will be here to nurture you, listen to you and walk alongside you as you navigate this moment in time.
For now, both of these offerings are reserved for those who are already under or seeking Chiropractic care with Dr. Madison.
